Decorative Gourd

No autumn tableau is complete without a riotous display of shiny gourds warts, horns and all. The Italian expression Brutti ma Buoni, is the best way to describe them ugly but good. They may be members of the hard shell squash family, but with no meaty flesh to speak of, they are strictly ornamentals. With their stripes, splotches, bumps and twists, gourds are a whimsical and fun salute to fall.
